LRN Latency Benchmark

LRN Lookup Latency Comparison

Not all LRN APIs are equal in speed. Here's how SIPSmart's distributed U.S. NPAC-direct infrastructure compares to typical reseller and legacy SS7 gateway approaches.

What Drives Latency Differences?

LRN lookup latency is primarily determined by three factors:

  1. Data source tier — NPAC-direct providers eliminate reseller hops
  2. Geographic proximity — Network distance between your servers and the LRN API
  3. Caching infrastructure — Redis-cached hot numbers vs. disk I/O for every query

Legacy SS7 gateways add translation overhead. Reseller chains add round-trip network hops. SIPSmart eliminates both with direct NPAC connectivity and Redis caching from a nationally distributed infrastructure across the United States.

  • Benchmark measurements reflect median observed performance across multiple testing periods from AWS us-east-1 (Virginia) to each provider's API endpoint. Numbers for competitors are based on customer-reported data and publicly available provider benchmarks. Results may vary by geography and traffic conditions. We encourage you to run your own tests.
  • Yes. Use our public test endpoint: curl -w " %{time_total}" https://api.sipsmart.io/v1/lrn/test. The response includes full timing breakdown. No account required. Run it from your own network for the most accurate benchmark relative to your infrastructure.
  • Three reasons: (1) NPAC-direct connectivity eliminates one or more reseller hops, (2) distributed U.S. replication nodes reduce physical network distance from your infrastructure to the nearest node, (3) multi-tier Redis caching serves hot numbers from memory at sub-millisecond speeds.
